If you’re looking for a good baseball sim, this one is just okay. Has a ton of options, players, and stats, plus a ton of teams from many different eras. It was exactly what I was looking for. However, once I jumped into my season, I got about 50 games in and the fun stopped. Here are some of my frustrations:
I starting off my season 11-3, but then all of a sudden I couldn’t win a game to save my life, I was getting my butt kicked by the worst teams in the league, every opposing pitcher that was doing terrible, suddenly pitched a gem when I faced them. So far I’m 0-44 trying to steal 3rd (mostly using Rickey Henderson), but my opponent swipes 3rd with ease. When my opponent has the bases loaded, they hit a grand slam about 80% of the time. I’ve had many games where I end up losing because my fielders will commit multiple errors in one inning to let my opponent make an amazing comeback, almost as if that particular game had a pre-determined outcome. I have players on my team who hardly ever strike out in real life, but halfway through my season (81 games) they’re almost up to their real life 145 game total already. I was facing the Texas Rangers recently who had Charlie Hough on the mound, in the 5th inning his stamina hit 0%, but they left him in the entire game and somehow he struck out 7 of my batters, only gave up 1 more run, and got the W.
Like I said, this game is just what I was looking for, but its been very frustrating so far, maybe I just suck at it. I just like to play a game or two a day, I don’t really have time to mess with all the options, ballparks, and players which are an amazing part of the game, but I wish it wasn’t so infuriating.
