I am very happy with the game. It’s not perfect, but no game is. For a person of my circumstances however, it’s almost exactly what I need in a football manager simulator.
I am a father with a full-time job. I love football and I love playing football manager games, but until my child is old enough to hold a controller and has developed the resilience to survive the suffering that I will put him through as I hammer him 10-0 on FIFA day after day, I am confined to the two hours an evening that I have to myself for playing FIFA or Football Manager (or any other game).
However, The Open League is slow paced enough that it means I can both work and spend time with my child, and still keep on top of managing my team. I check for any transfer changes in the mornings, save my line-up and arrange practice, work through until lunch when I can look at making any transfer requests, work until 5, spend time with my child and sit down in time to watch the evening game kick-off.
Others may want to be more involved and have more control, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I would likely fall behind if there was a lot of micro-management involved. It’s just right and I applaud what people have created here.
