Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP Baseball Go!)
Out of the Park Baseball (OOTP Baseball Go!)

"Markus Heinsohn" OOTP Go was a complete rewrite and has nothing to do with MLB Manager, which was our previous mobile game franchise and last launched in 2018. OOTP Go shares the code base of OOTP 22, while MLB Manager was still based on the OOTP 11(!) code base, so you cannot compare the two. Sharing the code base of the desktop game has many advantages, for example when we tweak the simulation engine in 22 the change will automatically be part of the next Go patch. However, this approach is also more complicated to maintain and requires more testing to make sure that, for example, interface changes meant for Go do not screw up 22 screens and vice-versa.

So, we initally had hoped that OOTP Go would be ready sometime in the Summer of 2020, but the project turned out to be a much bigger task than anticipated. Still, we kept working as hard as possible on it and made siginificant progress, so that we were able to start private beta testing for Go in mid December. The feedback from our beta team was awesome, they were very positively surprised by the huge scope of the game and how well it was designed overall. But, there were also several hardware-related issues reported (Go will launch on both iOS and Android and is optimized for both phones and tablets) which we and our third-party library providers are currently working through step-by-step. Now, with OOTP 22 launch coming up fast, we realized that we would not be able to get Go ready prior to that, so we are now shifting our main focus back to 22 and fix the remaining Go problems in the meantime. Once OOTP 22 is launched and the first patches are deployed, we will shift the focus back to Go to polish the app (we want it to be a great experience for everybody), finalize beta testing and prepare for worldwide launch on iOS and Android.

Let me now give you some information about Go and its feature set:

OOTP Go will be a FREE app for iOS and Android. It will be optimized for both phones and tablet, meaning many screens will display more information if there is more space available.

As mentioned, it is based on the code base of OOTP 22, so the simulation engine and AI is identical. On top of that, it has the following main desktop features:

  • 3D in-game action
  • 2021 MLB rosters including full minor leagues. This will be a $4.99 in-app purchase. Buy once, create as many 2021 MLB games as you like.
  • Some international leagues
  • Full fictional league support, including the 800+ fictional team logos. Fictional games are 100% free.
  • Historical MLB leagues 1901 - 2020 ($0.99 per season, bundles available, buy once and create as many games as you like)
  • Full cross-platform Perfect Team. Manage your PT22 team from everywhere, both desktop and mobile.
  • Unlimited career play, there is no year limit.
  • Financial system, player drafts, tons of league settings & options
  • Much more...

There will be a few features that are not available on OOTP Go (eg. league associations, feeder leagues, online leagues and certain stuff that just eats up too much memory), but the core is 100% identical with OOTP. And, PT is fully supported, cross-platform compatible. So you can manage the same PT team(s) no matter where you are.

And the best of all? OOTP Go will be a free download. Fictional leagues, PT and three historical MLB leagues are fully functional in the free app. The MLB roster set will be a $4.99 in-app pruchase (purchase once, and you can start as many MLB leagues as you like), and individual historical seasons will be $0.99 each (same as MLB Manager in the past).
