I have been playing GPRO for about 12 season, and that should tell you enough that this game does have something about it.
Firstly this game has very little to do with grand prix racing. It is a math/planning browser game based around the idea of racing. You will need a lot of time on your hands to master this. If you don’t I would avoid.
The positives:
- Some of the maths involved are intuitive and well thought out.
- If you like ‘formula breaking’ this game will really suit you.
- Despite being a game well past its peak, the community is active and engaging.
- if you are prepared to make a lot of mistakes it can be very rewarding at lower levels.
- It is free to play, and not pay to win.
The negatives:
- The game is past its peak. I can only imagine how good this was before most of the formulas were out. In game numbers are not that high versus its past.
- You are playing against managers that have been playing for years! Most are very against change, usually to the detriment of the new users.
- The structure of the game is poorly thought out and causes a whole host of unnecessary issues. For some reason there is a reluctance to address.
- Some of the maths is based on random range ‘calculation’. Which when I found this out was quite depressing, especially when related to planning.
- New developments do appear to be more about generating money than improving the game.
Ultimately I am still an active player of the game and for that reason I would say give it a go. I have had some enjoyable times with it. But that being said there are far too many issues with the game for it to be my main game online, and frankly I don’t see those issues going away.
Looking at participant numbers the game is fighting a decline and I can’t help but feel a slow death.
