I’ve been playing the college football sim for a year, and have gone through a complete cycle of recruiting computer generated high school seniors, setting game specific depth charts and choosing offense and defense schemes, agonizing over whether the right choices were made, rejoicing with wins and signing recruits and cursing decisions that turned out to be ‘suboptimal’, let’s say. The interface and documentation are not difficult, but with all good games the devil is in the choices you make and that your opponents make. There is some RNG involved, but it seems to even out and not be the biggest determining factor.
The community (80+ coaches) are very helpful and some are pretty lively. Weekly recruiting is processed on Wednesday at noon (US Eastern), and gameplans are due midnight Wednesday for games that stream on Th/Fri/Sat – yes there is a discord channel that streams the play by play for every game. Athletes get hometowns and school affinities and some other descriptions for flavor and some need more attention that others to commit. Coaches (us) talk about the glory days of past players in the Sim and some write back stories or weekly game/coaching updates throughout the season.
A lot more than just numbers…check it out, don’t cost nuthin…..
