Good Game, poorly managed

User Rating: 2.3

Played this game for several years. It was great and I enjoyed it tremendously. However, management couldn’t leave well enough alone. Continual changes, updates and tweaks totally changed how player profiles were valued. My entire minor league system was destroyed by one update and I quit the game. Years later, I was offered free seasons and came back for nostalgia. I began to enjoy the game again. I purchased seasons. I won more than a dozen titles in all, but the dumb changes started to creep up again and I lost interest. Eventually being out of town for one season flip the AI let all my good players go and basically ruined my entire team in one day rendering my franchise useless. It’s a fun game if you don’t care about the goal posts being totally moved without advance notice, the entire draft system being revised without notice and potentially losing all your best players if your busy or out of town for a 2-3 day flip.

Injuries are ridiculous in this game as well. The owner states that the injuries reflect “real life”, and they may indeed do so, but the point of a sim game is for enjoyment, not torture. I would literally keep 12 possible starting pitchers between majors and minors because it was impossible to not lose at least 4 during a season. I’ve had superstars miss the playoffs every season of their prime do to injury. Its just stupid.  I would keep rookies in the minors too long intentionally cause i knew bringing them to the majors was an instant injury sentence. If you want to track statistics and run analysis it is impossible because injuries are far too commonplace.

Nonetheless it is a fun game if you like baseball sims, but there are far better options for baseball simulators and many are free and not mismanaged as this one.
